College of Nursing, AIIMS , Bhubaneswar organized "International Women's Day" in collaboration with Women Cell, AIIMS Bhubaneswar on 8th March 2017 based on the theme "BE BOLD FOR CHANGE".

Parida , Chairperson Women Cell Dr Pranati Nanda, Addl. Prof. dept. Physiology and Mrs.Dharitri Swain, HOD I/C, CON addressed the gathering. Photography competition and fancy dress competition were organized reiterating the monumental contributions of females to our society by the B.Sc Nursing students and the winners were awarded with prizes.

An Awareness Rally was flagged off by Dr Gitanjali Batmanabane, Director AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Dr Vikas Bhatia, Dean AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Ms Dharitri Swain, HOD I/C College of Nursing along with other faculty members and about 200 B.SC nursing & MBBS students of AIIMS Bhubaneswar participated in the rally. A Poster, Exhibition and Quiz Competition was organized and various innovative posters and models were displayed by B. Sc nursing students followed by a Blood Donation camp which was organized at the Blood Bank to promote awareness regarding the importance of regular Blood Donation. A Public lecture was delivered by the resource persons Dr M.C. Sahoo, Dr Saubhagya Jena, Dr Anupam Dey, Dr Rashmi Ranjan Das, Dr Swayan P Parida, Dr Prajna P Giri , Mrs Dharitri Swain for the general public in Block C OPD waiting area to increase awareness about different aspects related to HIV/AIDS. The public lecture was followed by an interactive session with general public. The valedictory session was conducted in the end of the activities in which the winners of various events were awarded by Director, Dean and Medical superintendent. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Dharitri Swain, HOD College of Nursing. The event and activities were well appreciated by Director.

Fourth batch of 1st year B.Sc Nursing students of College of Nursing, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar had their Oath taking (Candle lighting Ceremony) on 29th Nov 2016 at Mini Auditorium Complex, College of Nursing building, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. Lamp Lighting Ceremony is an auspicious occasion in every Nurses life. It is held in reverence to Florence Nightingale (fondly known as the lady with lamp) to encourage the new batch students entering into the Hospital in order to deliver the holistic care to the patients. On this Noble occasion, 58 B.Sc Nursing students took oath of Nursing Profession.
Mrs Amrita Lenka, Principal, KINS, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha had attended the function as Chief Guest. Dr. GitanjaliBatmanabane, Director, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and Dean, Dr. Vikas Bhatia presided over the ceremony and Mrs Dharitri Swain, HOD College of Nursing, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar welcomed the gathering.
Mr Bhima Surendra Babu, Clinical Instructor, College of Nursing has hosted the programme and Mrs Urmila Das, DNS, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar acknowledged the oath. Lastly, Mrs AS Subathra, Clinical Instructor, College of Nursing proposed the vote of thanks followed by cultural events by 1st and 2nd year B.Sc (Hons) Nursing.

International Nurses Day is celebrated all over the world on every May 12th, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. This year, the International Council of Nurses commemorated this important day with the theme - Nurses: A force for change: Improving health systems' resilience.
College Of Nursing, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar observed International Nurses Day on 12th May, 2016. The ceremony was inaugurated by Mrs. Dharitri Swain, HOD I/C, College Of Nursing by lighting the lamp and the theme was unfolded by Mr. NandaKumar P, Asst.Professor , College Of Nursing.
Addressing the audience, Mrs. Dharitri Swain, HOD I/C, College Of Nursing, shared her rich and varied experiences and highlighted the importance of inculcating strong moral and ethical values in order to be a successful nurse.
The Clinical Instructors, College Of Nursing conducted a symposium on the theme nurses: a force for change: improving health systems' resilience. The symposium was moderated by Mrs. Subathra and the speakers Mr. M.S. Reddy, Mr. Fijo, Mrs. Krishna Kalpana, Mr. Beni, Ms. Biswaranjita, Mr. Bhima Surendra Babu and Ms. Deeptimayee, shared their views on how to improve the health systems resilience.
The Student Body of CON, AIIMS, BBSR, hosted Nurses Week Celebration by the name Zenith 2016, prior to the International Nurses Day, from 21st- 23rd April, 2016 with a variety of cultural and sport events. Prizes were awarded to the winners of various cultural and sport events.
Ms. Athira of 3rd year B.Sc. Nursing won the maximum number of prizes in the cultural events and became the overall cultural champion. Ms. Dickyie Dolma of 3rd year B.Sc. nursing won the overall sports championship award. Blue house bagged the maximum score in extracurricular events and won the overall championship trophy for the year 2016. Red house was the runners of Zenith 2016. The event had a graceful end by showcasing the talents of the members of the nursing students and faculty.

The Inauguration started with the highlighting the importance of Lamp Lighting & Oath taking Ceremony by the Master of ceremony: Mr. Bhima Surendra Babu and followed by Invocation Song by 3rd Year B.Sc Nursing Students.
Ceremonial Lamp Lighting was done by the Chief Guest Mrs. Sukeerthy R. Jay Kumar, Nursing Superintendent, Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar and other dignitaries in the dais. The whole gathering was welcomed by Mrs Dharitri Swain, HOD College of Nursing, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and key note address was delivered by Mrs A.S Subathra and followed by candle lamp lighting and oath taking with Ms Florence Nightingale pledge of 60 first year B.Sc Nursing 2015 batch.
The chief guest, Mrs. Sukeerthy R Jay Kumar,Nursing Superintendent, Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar, addressed the students and highlighted the uniqueness of Nursing profession and develop the attitude and the commitment in caring the humanity as a whole to provide nursing service for which skill development and adequate training is the foundation. And finally she wished all the best for the budding Nurses for their future training.
Dr. A.K. Mahapatra, Director, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar addressed the students about the importance of positive attitude towards learning & developing compassion for needy and sick people. Also acquiring the basic nursing skills and taking precaution of medical negligence.Dr.S.C Mohapatra, Officiating Dean, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar as well as encouraged the students to have adequate knowledge and appropriate training to provide best possible nursing services to the needy. College of Nursing, AIIMS Bhubaneswar organized “World Health Day-2016” in coordination with the Dept. of Community Medicine and Family Medicine, AIIMS Bhubaneswar on 7thApril 2016, to create awareness among the public and provide them knowledge to focus on the contemporary health issues.
WHO theme - Halt The Raise: Beat Diabetes.
The following Events were observed on this occasion to create public awareness.
In the morning session, Health Camp and Scientific Exhibition was organised in the OPD block which was inaugurated by the Director, Dean and the Medical Superintendent .In The health camp around 300 people were screened for the Diabetes including RBS and HbA1C and the necessary medical assistance and guidance provided to those who were in need. The B.Sc. nursing students organized Health Exhibition on three sub themes: Prevention and Screening, Standards of Care, Surveillance of Diabetes.
Various competitions were conducted based on the theme: - Short Film, Extempore and exhibition competitions were conducted for Nursing Students and Quiz competition for both MBBS and Nursing students.
A Scientific Session was conducted in the Mini Auditorium ,College of Nursing, AIIMS BBSR which was inaugurated by Dr.A.K. Mahapatra, Director,AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
Winners of various competitions were appreciated by giving Prizes & Certificates. The programme adjourned at 5.00PM followed by snacks of Diabetic Diet.

World cancer awareness day was observed on 4th February 2015. A rally was organized from college of nursing to OPD block. Mass awareness to the public was created in the OPD block.
As part of the curriculum requirement, second year B.Sc Nursing students(2014 batch) AIIMS, Bhubaneswar had gone for first community posting in Mendhasal village and Tentulyapada village at Tangi from 3rd January 2015 to 27th February 2015. Students had conducted mass health education and awareness programmes about the diseases and its prevention, family planning methods, health and sanitation and prevention of different communicable and non communicable diseases.
World health day was observed at college of nursing, AIIMS, BBSR, on 7thapril, 2015. The students conducted a lively exhibition on the WHO day theme “food safety- farm to plate”. Students were appreciated and encouraged for their creativity and innovative ideas in scientific exhibition.
on 12th may 2015 college of nursing, AIIMS, BBSR observed international nurses day, on the theme “ Nurses a force for change: cost effective, care effective”. On this eve students were attended scientific sessions and participated various cultural events and the winners were awarded with prizes as appreciation.
On the eve of world suicide prevention day on 10th September 2015, college of nursing, AIIMS, BBSR conducted various competitions such as essay writing and pencil drawing competitions and participants were awarded prizes. Scientific session and a panel discussion were conducted for the students on the theme “reach out to save the lives”.
On 21st September 2015, college of nursing, AIIMS, BBSR, observed world Alzheimer’s day. The students and the faculty of college of nursing took part in the memory march which was held on this occasion.
World Mental Health Day was observed at College of Nursing AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on 10th October 2015. An awareness programme was conducted in the OPD block regarding the mental health and signs of mentally ill. Skit competition, poster competition and collage competitions were conducted at the inter college level and the winners are awarded with prizes. Various scientific sessions was conducted in the mini auditorium for the knowledge of students.
World COPD Day was observed at College of Nursing AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on 18th November 2015. An awareness programme was conducted in the OPD block based on theme and highlighting on prevention of COPD. Students were performed a lively street play based on theme of the day ‘Its Not Too Late’ and poster competition was conducted at the inter college level and the winners are awarded with prizes.
Students actively participated in AIDS rally, poster competition and blood donation on the world AIDS day organized by AIIMS, BBSR on 1st December, 2015. A CME was conducted in the mini auditorium to create awareness regarding the AIIDS among the students.
